This beauty is reinforced by the various festivals held. So, for those of you who already have plans for a holiday to South Korea, here are some interesting festivals that will take place in early 2023.

1. Chilgapsan Ice Fountain Festival

This festival runs from January 1 to February 12. The exact location is Alpine Village in Cheongyang-gun, South Chungcheong Province.

Quoting the Korea Herald, the Chilgapsan Ice Fountain Festival, Cheongyang offers various activities, including sledding, bobsledding, ice fishing, zip line courses, horseback riding, bare-handed fishing, and many more.

It is not mandatory to participate. You can just enjoy the ice fountain, ice art, and ice cave. Chilgapsan Ice Fountain Festival, Cheongyang This festival is open from 9 am to 8 pm.

To attend there, you need to buy a ticket first via Naver Booking or directly for 8,000 won, equivalent to IDR 100,253. Participation fees vary for each activity.

2. Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival

Scheduled to take place from January 7 to 29, 2023, the Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival offers frozen ice fishing experiences, including bare-handed fishing, ice sledding, bobsledding, trout grilling, and more.

Taking place on the frozen Hwacheon Stream, this festival is welcoming for all ages. Tickets are sold for 15,000 won, equivalent to IDR 187,974 for participants aged 12 years and over. Meanwhile, those under 12 years old are free, but must be supervised by an adult. Reservations take place online starting on December 23, 2022.

3. Pyeongchang Trout Festival

Running until January 29 on the Odaecheon River, Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province, the festival offers three types of fishing experiences for visitors, including tent fishing, bait fishing, and barehanded fishing. Trout caught from this fishing event can also be immediately prepared as a variety of dishes at nearby restaurants.

Trout is a freshwater fish that usually lives in lakes and rivers. Some types of trout are similar to salmon. However, the color and pattern will differ depending on the environment it lives in.

For those of you who want to participate, entrance tickets to the Pyeongchang Trout Festival are sold from 15,000 won (Rp. 187,974) to 49,000 won (Rp. 614,050). This festival can be enjoyed by all ages.

4. Gapyeong Trout Singing Festival

The Gapyeong Trout Singsing Festival offers a variety of live programs and winter activities, from ice fishing, snow sledding, ice skating, bumper cars on ice and more. It is located around Gapyeong Stream on Jaraseom Island, Gapyeonggi, and lasts until March 1.

For those of you who are interested, the Gapyeong Trout Singsing Festival is open from 9 am and 5 pm. For entrance fees, children are charged 10,000 won, equivalent to Rp. 125,316 and 12,000 won, equivalent to Rp. 150,379 for adults.

5. Jeju Fire Festival

The Jeju Fire Festival will be held at Saebyeol Oreum, Aewol-eup, Jeju Island on March 18-20 2023. This annual festival is a reinterpretation of bangae, the oldest nomadic culture in Jeju.

When bangae, people pray for wealth and health by burning old grass and killing pests in the fields. The sparkling flames provide a magnificent view for visitors.
